October 17th, 2019 Benedict Wild (and #SfN19)

benwildBenedict Wild (@BenedictWild) is a PhD student in the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory at the German Primate Center and Goettingen University in Germany. He is interested in how the brain processes visual information, especially visual motion. To learn more about this, he uses a variety of methods, including electrophysiological recordings of single cells in the brains of rhesus monkeys, and behavioral experiments in human subjects. He majored in psychology at Heidelberg University and received a Master’s degree in Neuro-Cognitive Psychology from the University of Munich before his PhD studies. Benedict is very interested in science communication, especially about the importance of animal research. When he’s not doing science, he is normally out running and preparing for his next marathon (the most recent one having been Chicago just 4 days ago).
